Disclaimer

Worth stating plainly, because the subject matter invites the opposite assumption.

This is not legal advice

Condemnation procedure, deadlines, the measure of compensation and the recovery of costs are matters of state law and they differ substantially between states. General descriptions here cannot tell you what applies to your property. If a deadline is approaching or a petition has been filed, speak to a lawyer admitted in your state.

No lawyer and client relationship

Reading this site or corresponding with it creates no professional relationship and no duty of care towards you.

This is not a valuation

Nothing here values any property. How condemnation appraisals are produced is covered at Eminent Domain Appraisers, and applying it to a specific property requires an appraiser who has inspected it.

Two meanings of condemnation

Pages about condemned buildings describe a code enforcement process in which no compensation is paid. Pages about condemnation and eminent domain describe acquisition of property for a public project, in which compensation is required. They are unrelated legal processes that share a word.

Independence

This site is not affiliated with any condemning authority, law firm or appraisal firm, and it does not accept payment for recommending anyone.
